Dr. Anil Parwani is a Professor of Pathology and Chair of the Department of Pathology in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University. His sub-specialty training is in Genitourinary Pathology (GU), and he was previously a member of the GU Center of Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh. His pathology research focuses on developing immunohistochemical markers for the diagnosis of GU cancers, including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, benign mimickers of prostate cancer, and the correlation of histomorphological features of renal cell carcinoma with cytogenetic and molecular changes. He is the PI of the Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN) Midwestern Division, a National Cancer Institute program for prospective biospecimen procurement for translational research. My expertise in Anatomical Pathology Informatics includes the design of quality assurance tools, tissue banking informatics, clinical and research data integration and mining, synoptic reporting in anatomical pathology, clinical applications of whole slide imaging, digital imaging, telepathology, image analysis, and lab automation and workflow processes such as barcoding and voice recognition. He is a member of the Digital Pathology Foundation, Department of Defense, CDC, NCI, Omnyx LLC, and the CAP Foundation.
