About CHTN

Our Story and Mission

The Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN) is a pioneering research initiative funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and managed at the NCI's Cancer Diagnosis Program (CDP). Established in 1987, CHTN is dedicated to advancing basic and early translational cancer research by providing scientists with access to high-quality human biospecimens.

There are six divisions of CHTN, working collaboratively to ensure an equitable and fair distribution of biospecimens to researchers at a reasonable price.

CHTN's mission is to facilitate the acquisition of human tissue samples, supporting groundbreaking discoveries in cancer biology, diagnostics, and treatment development across academic institutions and industry, while maintaining the integrity of every sample entrusted to us.

CHTN Divisions

The CHTN is comprised of six divisions that work together as a network. There are five adult divisions and one pediatric division.
