Academic Biospecimen Collection Pricing
Solid Tissue Biospecimen Collection
Solid tissue pricing is per specimen. Collection of solid tissue using investigator-driven protocols that require extensive handling may incur additional charges. Please review the FAQ videos to learn more.

Frozen Banked Biofluids
Banked biofluids are available for purchase from the CHTN divisions. Inventory includes serum, plasma, whole blood, buffer coat, packed RBCs, pediatric malignancies DNA and RNA, and urine collected through clean catch or catheterization. Banked biofluids are considered "leftover" remnants from other research projects. Contact your primary division coordinator to discuss availability.

Expedited Handling Fee per Shipment
There is an additional charge for biospecimens shipped on the same day as collection/surgery.

Access to Tissue Charge
Requests for slides (unstained or HE stained), scrolls, or sections from the CHTN QAQC block will incur a charge of $60.00 per donor for block retrieval and the first HE slide. Multiple sections/slides/scrolls will follow the histology pricing model.

Fresh Tube of Whole Blood or other Biofluid
Whole blood tube collection is priced per whole tube. The collection of whole blood in specialized collection tubes/protocols may incur an additional charge. The collection of other biofluids (urine, ascites, etc.) is per tube. Collection using investigator-driven protocols that require extensive handling may incur additional charges. Cryopreserved PBMCs
The prospective collection, cell count, and viability requirements will be discussed with the division handling the PBMC collection. Please reach out to your primary division about the possibility of collection.

Chart Review
Data elements are extracted from the patient's Medical Record in text format. CHTN does not provide digital images of scans, X-rays, or other images that may have embedded patient data. Please review the FAQ video to learn about CHTN Chart Reviews and charges.

Specialized Service Fee (per hour)
Specialized services include, but are not limited to the following:
- Resending archived pathology reports or chart reviews
- Requirement to complete additional paperwork for procurement
- Specialized packaging (other than Standard CHTN protocol)
- Specialized procurement (other than standard CHTN protocol)
All specialized services are billed at a fee of $50.00/hour. (One hour minimum)

H&E Slide from Paraffin Block
Standard 4-5 micron thickness, per slide. (Positively charged). Other non-standard slides must be provided by the investigator and may incur an additional charge.

Standard 4-5 micron thickness, per slide. (Positively charged). Other non-standard slides must be provided by the investigator and may incur an additional charge.
