Biospecimen Collection Options

CHTN offers many collection options, using our standard CHTN protocols, or can tailor procurement to your research protocol.

At the Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN), we understand that biospecimen integrity is critical to research success. CHTN divisions utilized Standard Operating Protocols in compliance with NCI Best Practices for Biorepositories to ensure quality across all the CHTN Divisions. You can request customized collection, processing, and preservation options to meet your specific needs.

Our biospecimens undergo precise handling and preservation protocols to ensure optimal quality, reproducibility, and suitability for a wide range of scientific applications.

Understanding How Preservation and Processing can Effect Research Outcomes

CHTN understands the complexity of biospecimen collection, preservation and processing and how improperly handled biospecimens can have detrimental effects on your research and downstream applications. We work closely with our surgeons, nurses and clinicians to ensure that biospecimens collected under best practices and are suitable for your research. Biospecimens are annotated with important information such as, size, volume, post-excision time, post-mortem time and fixation time. Pre-analytical variables are recorded if they cannot be controlled, which helps decrease the variability between samples.
